RE: OK! Let's play help the dummy!

Hi Frank, I know this sounds weird but check the fuse box under the hood in the engine compartment. As you look at the fuse panel you should see two resettable breakers in the lower left corner as you look at it. Make sure both of those are set and not out, happened on mine twice that the breaker popped, just reset it and all was good. rvjer Just what made the breakers pop ?

RE: Where's the wet bay?

I always have a hard time parking adjacent to a dump station because it's hard to perceive the location of the wet bay from the driver's seat. I've thought to install something along the lines of the old fashioned "curb feeler" to align the wet bay with the dump station. Any suggestions? Thanks! Ted Get a longer dump hose. Mine streches out about 15 feet.

RE: Need Urgent Advice - No Water - Cold Conditions

Jack, I found where the hot water tank connections are and it is in a heated area. There must be a run that we cant find, since the hot water tank is empty. That is the thing that is most confusing. Will keep searching. If I cant find it, I will find a RV shop open tomorrow and take her in for their assistance. Water tank to fill tank is either closed or plugged. Disconect that line to tank and see if it is getting water to tank. Have you ever been able to fill the tank ? ( Dumb question ) But That RV joint is going to charge you at least 70 bucks.

RE: Spare tire

Ours came with one hanging under the rear end. We have 19.5" tires and it would be a hassle to find a replacement in many rural areas. I had to replace one tire after hitting a curb, it took the local dealer two days to get a replacement. They may have been able to get a normal 19.5 tire but not the RV model, which has special rubber compounds to combat deterioration from ozone and UV. But I would not try to change it myself, 475 foot pounds just to remove the nuts. I have road service for that. I have never heard of a special 19.5 tires just for R/Vs. Tell me about them....

RE: Going "camping" - pull a TOAD or rent a car locally?

Ok - So I'm new to this and I wanted to get some input... DW and I are planning a few vacations in the new to us DP. We have rented one and went to yellowstone. We ended up renting a car locally and didn't pull a TOAD. As of right now I don't have an ideal vehicle as a TOAD, and don't have the need for one that is an ideal 4-down TOAD. We have: 2006 Chev 2500HD 4WD truck (could be a TOAD, but it's 7700lbs!) 2005 VW Passat with an auto trans - no info if it can be toad 4-down 1994 Volvo 940 with an auto trans - again no info on 4-down. 1966 Pontiac GTO - not sure that I want to tow this one 4-down, it would likely be either DRIVEN or in an enclosed trailer. See GTO website for more on the GTO... If we were to buy a new or different vehicle the DW wants a minivan. There are no minivans that I have seen that can be towed 4-down. So this means a tow dolly or a trailer, which makes things tougher for putting that stuff somewhere when we go for a vacation. I know that renting at times can be expensive and there is the chance that there are no vehicles available... Our plans for the RV is to take it out on vacation trips and enjoy - I still work FT, but can afford to take time off for the family trips, and at times I will use the DP for work trips. Anyone have some insight? You see a whole lot of Grand Cherokee Jeeps on the stern of M/Hs One of the only 4 wheel drives that can be towed 4 wheels down. Mine is a 1994 jeep, tips the scales at 4,100lbs with full fuel tank. 25gals. A 4 door SUV

RE: Wooden Blinds

We need to replace the day/night shades in our motorhome. Someone suggested we do wooden blinds instead. Have any of you done this?? If so, how do you like them?? I like the look but wonder if they rattle when driving?? Thanks for you help. No rattleing when pulled up And you should pull them up tight while under way.

RE: Wooden Blinds

I have wooden blindes in my Bounder. Keep them raised while on the road ( Can see out all sides of the M/H ) Have cleats to tie the cord to. So the blinds well not come down while traveling. With the cockpit drapes slide back and the wood blinds drawn gives a great view all around.. The only way to go are these wooden blinds. Oak color same as the wood work in the M/H By the way mine are 1 inch wide and cut to fit the size of each window.

RE: Booth Dinette vs Table & Chairs??

I agree, DW and I like the table, but in searching I find a nice unit with almost all the items we like (must haves) and then there sets the big bulky booth arrangement, can they change those things after the fact? Has anyone had a dealer that exchanged the booth? I tore the booth and replaced it with a very nice bar and 2 swiveling stools. Made a very nice area. PM me if you want pictures.

RE: Anyone feel guilty?

I've been on this forum everyday for weeks, dreaming about my MH purchase in the spring. Every once in a while, when I picture my family of 5 pulling out of my neighborhood in a 40 foot, diesel guzzling BUS, I imagine what some of the neighbors might think and I get a guilty feeling. Anyone else suffer from guilty thoughts? :h My self I would drive it around the block so every one could see it. Than leave on the trip. :C

RE: Engine died while driving??

My engine died while driving. Just shut off no warning,no sputtering,no hesitating, nothing just stopped running. Had it towed(that was an experience in itself)make sure your tow truck driver knows how to release the "auto park" and release the e-brake. I noticed the dash lights were out and no running lights. Everything else seemed fine driving lights ok, hazards worked, generator ran fine. Would not start. After about 5 days, repair shop found bad headlight switch and says my "knocksensor" is what is causing engine to die. I find that hard to believe. Do "knocksensors" having anything to do with the engine just quitting like that? Thanks in advance Servando 1997 Fleetwood Bounder 32H Chevy 454 gas 33,071 miles What the H#@@ is a "knocksensor" ? Some kind of door bell ? :h

RE: First post - Class A question 30amp question

If you have a generater ( 5.5kw or more) you well be able to run both A/Cs . 30 amps you well be close to your max amps. I think an A/C draws ???? 12.5 amps or more when running and more when starting. I have a system in my M/H that I can turn both on with 30 amps. But it well switch from one to the other, Back and forth Both well not run at the same time.. It is called a Electronic Climate Control Built by Intellitec

RE: Newbie....Fulltiming but Stationary

Hello everyone...I hope that you all are having a great day! Just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of you for posting on this forum. Thanks to you I'm stocked up on heat tape and I have purchased heating pads for my holding tanks! You all have been really awesome!! This is going to be a rather long post.....so get that cup of coffee, will ya? :D I started getting that packing up and move itch back in April. That's what I usually do when I get unhappy...I pack up my car, leave everything behind and start new. Only this time that wasn't an option. I bought a townhouse back in 1998 and I just couldn't leave that behind and I'm just getting too old to start over again. Even though I wasn't living there alone, my son was staying with me, it just seemed like too much space to keep up. I worked everyday, came home to fix a bite to eat, take a shower, sit in my office for a while and then go to sleep. Meanwhile, I was paying out of my rear end for utilities to heat/cool the home which I only partly used. It was actually months that I didn't even go into my living room. I was not a happy woman!! In the beginning of August I started shopping for a travel trailer. I spent 3 days going in and out of them armed with my notebook. Many of them where not suited for full time living, but they had enough seating for a dozend people.:( Then I went into to a Springdale 307 and found that it had enough space and storage for me to live in full time. A couple of weeks later I had a huge yard sale to get rid of my excess "Stuff". I found things in my closed from 1995 and 16 multi outlet adapters. LOL....I guess every time I needed one, I bought a new one not being able to find one in my home. The next day I left the townhouse for my son to take care of, loaded my xB six times and spent the night in my new home. I am now parked on a friends property, out in the woods just 10 miles away from the townhouse. It's funny how it is almost 10 degrees cooler out here away from the pavement. My friend trenched and then installed a sewer line, hooked up a hose to their house, and a 50 amp hookup for me. So far I am loving it!!! It amazed me how easy it is to keep this home cool with a little bit of a/c or a window fan pulling air out through the ceiling vents. Now that it is cooler, it's not hard to warm either. It will be even easier once I install the temporary skirting. I don't miss my "stuff"!! I love telling people that I have to clean my house.....and then telling them it might take me a few minutes! Most important I love the fact that if and when I want to, my home and I can move somewhere else! Thanks for reading and thanks for all the great advice!! Yes this is the way to go. I too live in a Motor Home ( Full living/dinning room slide) Has not been on the road for 2 years, but can hit the road in a moments notice.

RE: outside tv

Yeah, but isn't it disrespectful to walk into someone elses campsite and turn off their TV? Sheff no more disrespectful than them leaving it blasting while they are gone, IMHO. And if questioned, your answer is that you assumed that they forgot and left it on and you didn't want them to waste electricity and wear out their TV. and a humorous thing you could do, but it would cost you a little $$$, would be to buy one of those baseball thru the windshield stick ons and put it on the screen of their 42 inch plasma TV when you turn it off. when they come home and see a baseball has shattered it, it would be worth the $9.99 IMHO. bumpy :p Or you could just use a real baseball-- With out going into their site.

RE: rotten meat smell- UPDATE - UPDATE

Look I know some people say bleach is the way to go but I know from experience it won't work! We found a new ice chest along the road that had very dead fish in it. Bad, bad smell but we thought, what the heck, give cleaning it a try. Well I tried bleach, vinegar, newspaper, charcoal, everything I could think of and nothing worked. Then one day I was looking at some paperwork on our Igloo ice chest and found this tip. Vanilla, real vanilla, not the cheap stuff. Wet a rag, soak with the vanilla, wipe EVERY surface in the ice box with the vanilla soaked rag. Leave rag in, close door and leave for 24 hours. Check and if some odor is till there rinse out the rag in clean water and re-soak in vanilla and repeat above directions. It may take several times but I promise it will work! We had a friend with an ice box on his house boat that somehow got un-plugged and had a huge smelly mess. We sent him a bottle of vanilla and and old rag, told him what to do and it saved his ice box. On grateful man! I see where someone else has suggested vanilla, glad to know someone else knows about this. P.S. The ice box will smell like vanilla but that is a smell you can live with and it gets less and less noticeable as time goes on. I hear you can put a fish in there and get rid of the vanilla smell--:R
